The discontinuous cutting of titanium alloy in the milling process makes the tool bear the impact load. The tool is only partially in the milling state in each rotation, and the bonding of titanium and the bite of tool teeth will eventually lead to the wear or breakage of the tool. When the turning tool leaves the milling part, the residual cuttings will stick tightly to the cutter teeth and be taken to the next milling process. In order to avoid this phenomenon, the methods of rigid fixation and co directional milling can be adopted to make the thin chips produced by milling easy to be removed from the teeth. Generally, spraying with water-soluble coolant will reduce the milling temperature and minimize the bite. For small parts with small milling volume and other processes with small processing volume, ordinary high-speed steel milling cutter can be used for titanium rod. Cemented carbide tools are more suitable for high-speed production processes or processes with large amount of metal removal, such as plane milling and slab milling. When machining a new workpiece, use an appropriate slow milling speed and then increase to a higher milling speed.
