Molybdenum tube has the characteristics of high melting point, high strength, long life, good high temperature resistance, etc., widely used in thermal field, vacuum coating, solar energy, sapphire crystal, optoelectronics, semiconductor, special ceramics, light source lighting, mechanical parts, glass manufacturing, glass fiber, refractory fiber, rare earth metallurgy, industrial kiln and many other fields. Molybdenum tube is a non-ferrous alloy formed by adding other elements to molybdenum matrix. The main alloying elements are titanium, zirconium, hafnium, tungsten and rare earth elements. The elements of titanium, zirconium and hafnium not only strengthen the molybdenum alloy by solid solution, but also form a stable and dispersed carbide phase to improve the strength and recrystallization temperature of the alloy. Molybdenum alloy has good thermal and electrical conductivity and low expansion coefficient, has high strength at high temperature (1100 ~ 1650℃), and is easier to process than tungsten. They can be used as grids and anodes for electron tubes, support materials for electric light sources, die casting and extrusion molds, and parts for spacecraft. The development of molybdenum alloy is limited because of its low temperature brittleness and welding brittleness, and high temperature easy oxidation. Industrial production of molybdenum alloys include molybdenum titanium zirconium series, molybdenum tungsten series and molybdenum rare earth series alloys, which are widely used. The main strengthening ways of molybdenum alloy are solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening and work hardening. Molybdenum alloy sheet, strip, foil, tube, bar, wire and profile can be fabricated by plastic processing, and its strength and low temperature plasticity can be improved.
